The DiRT Roadbook – June 14, 2019

By - on June 14

Hello everyone and welcome to the DiRT Roadbook!

Once again it’s been a busy week in the world of DiRT so let’s get right to it.

DiRT Rally 2.0, Version 1.5

Version 1.5 of DiRT Rally 2.0 released this week with updates, fixes and additions made based on community feedback. The key addition was Clubs (which we’ll get to in a bit) but here’s the headlines:

  • Club support added to Freeplay.
  • Visual improvements made to rain effects.
  • Service Areas will appear correctly in Weekly and Monthly Challenges.
  • Monthly Challenge Leaderboards adjusted to show total Event times instead of individual Stage times.
  • Elite and Master AI difficulty adjusted in My Team Rally Events to provide a fairer transition upwards from Pro.
  • Start-line AI behaviour adjusted at Lohéac Bretagne circuit.
  • AI cars will now be washed after Rallycross races.
  • Notification added for when a player completes research on a car’s final engine upgrade in My Team.
  • Chase cameras adjusted to reduce camera clipping into roadside objects.
  • Non-English language co-driver volume increased.
  • Corrections to some non-English language co-driver calls.
  • General stability improvements and minor bug fixes.

As always we’re keeping an eye on how you’re all getting on with the game and with version 1.5 this is no different. If you’ve come across any bugs or issues be sure to drop them into our official bug-reporting thread. The DiRT team actively follows this thread and has already started actioning some of the things mentioned, so be sure to leave your thoughts. On a related note a bug regarding engine upgrade progression was identified and fixed server-side following the release of 1.5. Thanks again for bringing that to our attention.

“Content Not Installed” Error

Following the release of Version 1.5 a bug surfaced whereby players were getting a “Content not Installed” message when they logged in. Understandably this is an alarming error for players so the team kicked into high gear and started investigating.

We found a temporary workaround and communicated that within hours of the update going live while also working on getting a hotfix out to help remove the issue entirely. A new patch was prepared and made live on Thursday afternoon, so this error message should not appear now when you log in.

Many thanks to you all for your feedback and patience while we got this one sorted.

Clubs are here!

Clubs, one of the biggest fan-requested features, has arrived in DiRT Rally 2.0! Players can use Clubs to build communities and run their own Events and Championships in-game, and we’re already seeing people do great things with them.

On Tuesday I put out a how-to guide on building your own Club, which you can find below. Also below is the official feedback thread where you can leave your thoughts or report issues. Some of what’s reported has already been discussed with the DiRT team and improvements will be made to the Clubs feature in future updates.

Finally, if you’re looking for a Club to join we’ve got 2 official ones available! Take on hundreds of DiRT community members and Codemasters staff in our custom Championships, or rise to the ultimate challenge in our Expert Club where all assists are disabled, Hardcore damage is enabled and you can only use the in-car cameras.

Missing Community Challenge Rewards

Shortly after posting last week’s DiRTy Roadbook we began to see reports of players not getting their Credit rewards for completing Daily, Weekly and Monthly Challenges. On Monday morning the DiRT team was on the case, checking RaceNet and analysing the problem, and we got it resolved by lunchtime! Any rewards that players should have earned were queued up so if you haven’t played since last week you should have your Credits now. Many thanks to the players on the forums who brought it to our attention.

Feedback wanted on Input Device Configuration

Back in the far-flung days of Version 1.4 (remember that?) the DiRT team released the all-important Force-Feedback update, the top-requested change since the game’s launch. In addition to this a comprehensive guide was created, going deep into the input settings and giving you all more information on how to best set up your wheels and devices.

As the DiRT team looks to the future they’re after feedback on how the input mechanisms work in DiRT Rally 2.0, and what improvements can be made in the future. If you’ve got any input on… input we’d love to hear it, and if you don’t know what we’re on about the guide’s below too.

Share your Screenshots!

Over the past few weeks you may have seen some great community pics show up on the DiRT social media channels. The response to these has been great and we’d love to share more pics with you all, and there’s where you can get involved! If you’ve captured an awesome moment in DiRT Rally 2.0 drop it in the forum thread below; we’ll pick out our favourites and share them amongst the wider DiRT community. You can also tag us on Twitter or upload them to Reddit where we’ll see them too.

While we’re on the subject of photos let’s talk about Photo Mode. This has been a popular request amongst the community and the DiRT team has certainly talked about it internally.

As it stands however Photo Mode is not our highest priority. We’re not ruling it out entirely, but unlike some of the cool things that we do have planned for the future (which you’ll hear about in due course) it’s not “just around the corner”.

Sales & Discounts

Not taken your Quattro off-roading yet? DiRT titles are currently discounted on PlayStation and Xbox. There’s never been a better time to go rallying.

Codies Paddock Pass

Quite a lot goes on at Codemasters, so much that sometimes it’s hard to keep track of it all! To help keep you all up to speed we’ve started a new community blog series, the Codies Paddock Pass!

The first post is live now, giving you all a quick overview of what’s been happening in the worlds of DiRT, GRID, F1 and a few other things the Codemasters team has been getting up to. This will evolve over time so we’d love to know what you think of it. Hit us up on the forums or tag @Codemasters on social and send us your thoughts.

Latvia Rallycross: Coming June 18

Season 2 of DiRT Rally 2.0 continues next week with the addition of the Latvian Rallycross circuit! We dropped the first screenshots earlier in the week which you can find below, and today we’re sharing the trailer so you can all see the course in action. Latvia RX releases on June 18 and is included in the DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition, or the Deluxe Content Pack if you already own the base version of the game. It’s also available as standalone DLC.

That’s it for this week, but before we go let’s take a look at the Latvia Rallycross circuit in action with our new trailer!
